General Questions

What is Allied Independent Living?

Allied Independent Living provides residential housing options for adults seeking a safe, stable, comfortable, and welcoming place to live. Our housing model focuses on promoting independence, dignity, personal responsibility, housing stability, and community connection within a residential environment.

Is Allied Independent Living an assisted-living facility or nursing home?

No. Allied Independent Living is focused on independent and shared residential housing and is not a nursing home. Residents should generally be capable of managing their daily living needs independently or have appropriate outside services arranged when necessary.

Who does Allied Independent Living serve?

Depending on eligibility, housing availability, and individual circumstances, prospective residents may include: Veterans, Seniors, Adults with disabilities, Individuals receiving SSI or SSDI, Individuals receiving VA benefits or pensions, Adults on other fixed-income sources, Individuals transitioning from homelessness or housing instability, Young adults transitioning from foster care, Adults seeking affordable shared housing, and Individuals referred by community organizations or social-service professionals. Each prospective resident is considered individually to determine whether an available housing arrangement is appropriate.

What housing options are available?

Depending on the property and current availability, housing options may include: Private Rooms, Shared Housing, Furnished Housing, Transitional Living, and Independent Living. Availability and accommodations may vary between properties.

Are the homes furnished?

Many of our housing options may include essential furnishings such as a bed, storage, common-area furniture, kitchen appliances, and other household necessities. Specific furnishings vary by property and room.

Will I have my own bedroom?

Private bedrooms may be available for residents who prefer additional privacy. Shared-room options may also be available depending on the property, resident preference, affordability, and current availability.

Are utilities included?

Certain utilities may be included depending on the housing arrangement. Applicants will receive information regarding included utilities and other housing expenses before completing their housing agreement.

Are meals included?

Meal arrangements may vary depending on the particular housing program or property. Residents should confirm what is included before move-in.

How long can I stay?

Length of stay depends on the housing arrangement. Some housing may be intended for transitional or shorter-term stays, while other options may provide longer-term housing. Specific terms will be explained before move-in.

Can couples live together?

Couple accommodations may be considered depending on available rooms, property configuration, eligibility, and applicable housing policies. Contact us to discuss your specific housing needs.

Can I bring my own furniture?

This may be possible depending on the property, available space, room type, and housing agreement. Please discuss furniture needs with our team before move-in.

Cost & Payment

How much does housing cost?

Housing rates vary based on factors such as: Property, Private or shared room, Housing arrangement, Furnishings, Included utilities and amenities, Length of stay, and Other applicable housing considerations. Contact Allied Independent Living for current rates and availability.

What forms of income are accepted?

Depending on the housing arrangement and applicable requirements, residents may use qualifying sources of income or funding toward housing costs. These may include employment income, retirement or pension income, SSI, SSDI, VA benefits, or other verifiable sources. Third-party or agency funding may also be considered when applicable.

Do you accept housing vouchers?

Acceptance of housing vouchers or third-party housing assistance depends on the particular program, property, funding requirements, and whether Allied Independent Living is eligible to participate in that program. Please contact us with the specific program or voucher so we can determine whether it can be accepted.

Is a security deposit required?

Deposit and move-in requirements may vary by property and housing arrangement. All required payments and fees will be disclosed before a resident signs a housing agreement.

Application & Admissions

How do I apply?

Start by completing our housing inquiry or application. We'll ask for information about your housing needs, preferred room arrangement, anticipated move-in date, income or funding source, and other information needed to evaluate potential housing options.

What documents will I need?

Documentation requirements may vary, but applicants may be asked to provide: Government-issued identification, Proof of income or benefits, Emergency contact information, Applicable referral information, Funding or benefit documentation, and Additional information required for screening or placement. We'll let you know which documents are required for your particular application.

Does submitting an application guarantee housing?

No. Submitting an inquiry, referral, or application does not guarantee acceptance or placement. Housing placement depends on eligibility, screening requirements, compatibility with the available housing environment, current availability, and completion of required documentation.

How quickly can someone move in?

Move-in timelines vary depending on current availability, completion of screening, required documentation, payment arrangements, and the applicant's individual circumstances. Applicants needing housing quickly should provide their desired move-in date when submitting an inquiry.

Do you conduct background checks?

Screening requirements may vary depending on the property and housing program. Any applicable screening requirements will be explained during the application process and handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

Daily Living

Are residents required to follow house rules?

Yes. Shared residential living works best when everyone respects the home and one another. Residents may be expected to follow reasonable household policies regarding cleanliness, visitors, shared spaces, safety, noise, and other matters necessary to maintain a comfortable residential environment.

Can residents come and go independently?

Allied Independent Living promotes independence. Applicable policies regarding access, guests, and household expectations will be explained before move-in.

Can residents have visitors?

Visitor policies may vary by property. Residents will receive information about guest and visitor expectations as part of their housing agreement or household policies.

Are pets allowed?

Pet policies vary depending on the property and housing arrangement. Applicants should discuss animals with us before move-in. Requests involving assistance animals are handled separately from ordinary pet policies and in accordance with applicable requirements.

Is transportation provided?

Transportation should not be assumed to be included with housing. If transportation options or community resources are available for a particular location or program, residents will be provided with additional information.

Services & Support

Do you provide medical or personal care?

Allied Independent Living primarily provides housing rather than medical or personal-care services. Prospective residents who require medical care, personal assistance, medication administration, or other specialized services should discuss their needs during the inquiry process so it can be determined whether the housing environment is appropriate.

Can residents continue working with their own case manager or outside service provider?

Generally, residents may continue working with their existing community providers, case managers, social workers, healthcare providers, and other outside resources as appropriate.

Referral Questions

Can a case manager or social worker refer someone?

Yes. We welcome referrals from case managers, social workers, hospitals, VA-connected programs, rehabilitation programs, behavioral-health organizations, community agencies, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and other professionals helping individuals locate appropriate housing.

Do I have to become a referral partner before referring someone?

No. Professionals and organizations may submit an individual referral without establishing a formal referral partnership. Organizations that anticipate making ongoing referrals are encouraged to contact us about becoming a referral partner.

Will you communicate with the resident's case manager?

When appropriate and with any required authorization from the resident, Allied Independent Living may communicate with an authorized case manager or referral professional regarding the housing inquiry and placement process.
